White Watson 540s

There have been discussions recently about the color of Watson 540 acetaminophen / hydrocodone pills. The point is that they used to be light blue, and now some people started getting white-colored pills from their providers. Some patients wonder if these white ones are fake or authentic. We are glad to assure you that white Watson 540s are NOT fake. They only changed their color because the drug company decided to stop adding the blue dye into them (there had been complaints about allergic reactions to the dye in some patients). However, there are reports that soon Watson 540s will not be available in any color. This preparation contains a rather high amount of acetaminophen, 10mg in each pill, which is very harmful for the liver. So, they recommend to use this type of generic Lortab with caution. There is information that Watson Pharmaceuticals agreed the FDA's demands and is going to stop manufacturing generic Lortab pills which contain more than 5mg acetaminophen each.

Watson 794

One more remarkable pill, or capsule, from Watson Pharmaceutical product list. It is a blue capsule marked "WATSON 794" on one side, and "10 mg" on the other. Instead of sides, we may call them halves, i.e., both halves of the capsule have some letters and numbers on them. "Watson 794" means that it is Dicyclomine hydrochloride (generic Bentyl), "10 mg" means strength. The medicine is normally used for treatment of the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Watson 780 Carafate Pill

Watson Pharmaceuticals ditributes its generic version of Sucralfate (Carafate) as pills indexed "WATSON 780". The color of the pills can be described as light blue, some people may even call them white. The index "WATSON 780" is debossed on one side of the pill (letters over numbers), the other side is scored. Each Watson 780 contains 1000 mg sucralfate (active ingrediend, and also, generic name for Carafate brand). The medication is used to treat active duodenal ulcer.

Watson 825 White Pill

One of the strongest combinations of hydrocodone / acetaminophen available. Watson 825 contains 10mg and 650mg of them respectively. A potent pain reliever with the highest possible amount of hydrocodone bitartrate, Watson 825 pill can be compared to m366 pill, a generic version of Vicodin (Lortab or Norco) manufactured by another famous company, Mallinckrodt Pharms.

Description: oblong white pill debossed with "WATSON 825" on one side, and scored on the other.

Watson 502

WATSON 502 is a beautifully looking hydrocodone/acetaminophen 7.5mg/650mg pill, a generic Vicodin pill. We say 'beautifully looking' because of the special color of WATSON 502 which is something between white and pink. WATSON 502 is a rather strong pain reliever, especially strong due to the high amount of hydrocodone bitartrate, an opioid analgetic found in it. The medication is also distributed under brand names Lortab and Norco.

WATSON 502 pill (product of Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) can be substituted by M359 pill (product of Mallinckrodt Pharms) which is another variation for generic Vicodin 7.5/650.

Watson 385 Pill

Watson 385 pill is a medium strength generic Vicodin pill, though 7.5 mg of hydrocodone bitartrate found in it makes it possible to treat even severe pain. 500 mg of acetaminophen (the other active ingredient in Watson 385) strengthens the effects of hydrocodone. By strengths, Watson 385 equals m358 pill, a product of Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, which can also be listed as generic Vicodin/Lortab/Norco. Both pills are oval, white and scored on the side opposite to the indexed one. Mallinckrodt's pill looks a little more oblong as compared to Watson 385.

Watson 540 Pill

They sometimes describe its color as white, sometimes as blue. Perhaps, we should better say that the pill is bluish white. Oval, with one side scored. "WATSON 540" index is debossed on the other side of the pill (letters above figures). As for the appearance, that seems to be all.

Now, active ingredients. Due to the fact, that Watson 540 pill is, in fact, generic Vicodin 10/500, each Watson 540 contains 10 mg hydrocodone bitartrate and 500 mg acetaminophen. The pill can as well be listed as generic Lortab or Norco (all the names are trade name variations for the same medicine).

A fact should be mentioned that generic versions of Vicodin 10/500 are distributed by other manufacturers, too. Along with Watson 540, the same strengths of hydrocodone and APAP can be found, e.g., in M363 pills manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharms.

WATSON 503 Pill

WATSON 503 pill belongs to the group of Watson pills with the highest content of hydrocodone in them. Each light green WATSON 503 pill contains 10 mg of it, together with 650 mg acetaminophen. Due to the fact, in WATSON 503 we face one of the strongest analgetics available on the market.

However, Watson's rivals do not stay behind. M361pill manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharms seems to feature the same strengths and qualities of generic Vicodin 10/650.

Watson 387

Watson 387 is a strong combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen, which can be called a generic Vicodin 7.5/750. A high amount of acetaminophen must be taken into account if one intends or has to use repeated doses of the medication, as the total dose of APAP must not exceed 4000mg taken during the day.

By the way, our "rule" the bigger number, the larger strength can hardly be applied to any Watson's Vicodin pill, including Watson 387, because of the fact that this medicine is a compound that consists of two active ingredients, and the amount of each of them varies from pill to pill. Some pill may contain a lot of APAP, but very little of hydrocodone, while the others are rich in hydrcodone though containing little acetaminophen. Or both ingredients can be found in large or little amounts...

Watson 242

As you may easily see, a larger number in a Watson pill's index means a higher strength of the medication, or a larger amount of the active ingredient (of course, if we speak of a series of pills containing this ingredient). We have already examined 0.5 mg lorazepam pills made by Watson Pharmaceuticals (indexed Watson 240). In Watson 242, you can expect a higher dose of lorazepam. And you are right, as Watson 242 pills contain 2 mg of it. To make it even more clear, these Watson pills do not only show a standard number, but a little figure, too (0.5, 1, or 2). In Watson 242 pills you may see a "2" under the "242" index on the reverse side.
